For our 11th episode, we are overjoyed to have artist and DJ Hannah D selecting songs that have moved her lately.
After listening to her Melbourne Deepcast mix (which is close to 3 hours of potent club music) we had to have this purveyor of progressive sound on for a TROVE segment. A set of Hannah’s is a smorgasbord of the deepest cuts from across the prog, house and trance galaxies.
Of late, Hannah has played B2Bs with Moopie (previous TROVE guest) and bearded Irish star Spray, spun at Above Below in the UK and HORS-SOL Festival in France and provided a home for music from the likes of WTP, Xav and Pistaccio with her The Space Between Us/TSBU label. Be sure to suss the Rotations Mix series she curates as another arm of the imprint as well.

This is one from the depths of the amazing Hooj Choons catalogue that I’ve been playing a lot lately. The echo/reverb on most of the elements gives it a trippy feel while still being really lighthearted and fun. A nice mood-setter for a daytime dancefloor with lots of smoke machines (obviously!!)
Maetrik and Random Factor is a buy-on-sight kind of combination (except for the fact it’s $400 on Discogs). There’s so much great music by Maetrik (which is an alias of Maceo Plex) and Random Factor (aka Carl Finlow) gives this track a sleek and sexy electro feel – a nice one for early in the night.
If you’ve seen one of my sets from the last year then you’ve most likely heard me play this track. I have been shamelessly rinsing it for ages now as it’s just so fun and always gets a nice reception 🙂 I love Juan Alarma’s productions and this track encapsulates the vibe of a lot of the tech house from around the 2004 era – really chunky and rolling with fun vocals. The breakdown is just so good as well!!
A weird techy stomper that slowly builds for two and a bit minutes before getting to the first drop – a dark and wonky one for late in the night.
I absolutely love this record and have been wanting to buy it for a while but I’m unsure how to work it into a set. It’s quite hypnotic but also feels outdoorsy and perfect for a packed daytime dancefloor. Percussive tribal techno vibes with a lead melody that just repeats over and over – pure euphoric bliss.
