The past 2-3 days have been the first time when the air has felt chilly and crisp. In a gentle way, though, that you only really get in the Fall. Sometimes, I almost mistake the feeling of it for the first warmer breezes of spring, but it’s not the same. I handed in my thesis a week ago and find myself becoming more and more able to be present and notice that the weather and my surroundings have shifted. In that sense, I’m lucky to have finished my thesis now — I am going through changes, and so are the seasons. We can relate a bit.
I thought it would be a huge relief to hand in my work, but as it turns out, my body and my head need time to wind down and sort out all the stress that’s been running through me. I haven’t felt able to play music in a while because I have been so used to the meticulous, perfectionist work on my thesis and have been a bit hard on myself. But today I really felt like it, and it felt terrific to record. I took Otto, the friendly, curious and loving dog that I am taking care of at the moment (yes, that is also one of the reasons why I am feeling better and better!) and walked to Kin with him. Kin is a new record store in Aarhus that some friends and I have opened. It has become a really comfortable and welcoming space, and being there makes me feel excited about music and creating together.
I dusted off some old records and took out some completely new ones made by friends, and it resulted in this mix. As I was recording, I felt the relief I had hoped for, and I just had some good old fun. I hope it comes across.
